Entering Results

Enter results directly in the pair chart using mouse clicks or keyboard shortcuts. The result buttons are “sticky” — click once to activate a button and then click each player to apply that result without re-clicking the button.

For tournaments with multiple paired rounds, use All Rounds Results Entry (Pairings → All rounds results entry…) to enter results for all rounds in a single scrollable window.

Mouse Entry

Activate a result button

Click the toolbar button for the result you want to enter. The button stays pressed so you can apply the same result to multiple players in sequence.

Click a player

Click the player’s name in the pair chart. That player receives the selected result. The opponent automatically receives the complementary result.

Continue or switch

The selected button remains active. Click another player to continue, or click a different result button to change what you’re entering.

Keyboard Entry

Select a player

Click a player in the pair chart, or use the Pointer button first to deactivate any result button so clicking doesn’t accidentally assign a result.

  • Up/Down: Move between pairings (both players in a row move together)
  • Left/Right: Move between individual players within a pairing

Assign a result

Either:

  • Press a keyboard shortcut letter (W, D, L, X, Z, F, B), or
  • Click a toolbar button and press Enter

After entry, the next player is selected automatically for rapid progression.

Clearing and Correcting Results

Click Clear (or press C) to remove an incorrect result. The cell resets and you can enter the correct result. If changing an existing result, a confirmation dialog may appear depending on your settings.

Double-Round Tournaments

For sections set up as double-round (blitz), the pair chart shows a Double Entry Mode checkbox in the toolbar.

Double Entry Mode enabled

One entry covers both games of the round pair. Buttons cycle through combined scores:

ButtonKeyboardScoreMeaning
LossL0Lose both games
DrawD½Lose one, draw one
WinW1Win one, lose one (net 1 point)
Win and a Half#Win one, draw one
Double Win$2Win both
Double Draw%1Draw both

Results appear in the wall chart using special combined-score characters.

Double Entry Mode disabled

Enter each game result separately (rounds N and N+1) using standard W/D/L.

SwissSys does not distinguish between loss+forfeit loss and double forfeit loss in Double Entry Mode. If you need to record this distinction, edit the wall chart directly after entering results.

See Double-Round Tournaments for full details on setting up and entering results for blitz events.
