Byes - Overview
SwissSys supports several methods of bye assignment, ranging from fully automatic to manually forced. This page links to the relevant controls for each approach.
Bye Management Options
| Method | Where to Configure |
|---|---|
| Forced byes | Pairings setup dialog |
| Advance byes (pre-requested) | Register, Club Lists, or Tinker |
| Bye strictness (who gets the bye?) | Rules for pairing — “Bye strictness for unrated” option |
Double-Round Events
In double-round (blitz) style events (labeled “Dbl” in setup), bye point values are doubled:
- A full-point bye is worth 2 points
- A half-point bye is worth 1 point
See Double-Round Tournaments for complete details.
Fixed-Roster Team Events
For fixed-roster tournaments, assign byes while in team mode (Ctrl+T) if you want to give an entire team a bye for a round. Operating in team mode ensures the bye is applied correctly to the team record and all individual player records at once.
This applies to all whole-team operations in fixed-roster events, not just byes.
