SwissSys System Requirements

SwissSys runs on Windows desktops and laptops. This page lists the hardware and operating system requirements before you download and install.

Operating System

SwissSys requires Windows 10 or later (64-bit recommended). Windows 11 is fully supported.

SwissSys is a Windows desktop application. It is not compatible with ChromeOS, Android, or iOS. Mac users may be able to run SwissSys using virtualization software such as Parallels Desktop .

Hardware Requirements

ComponentMinimum
Processor1.5 GHz dual-core (or equivalent)
Memory2 GB RAM
Storage100 MB for the application
DisplayAny resolution supported by Windows

USCF Database Note

Loading the full USCF All Ratings list (450,000+ players) requires at least 4 GB RAM for smooth operation. The new .rbin binary database format introduced in v11.76 loads the USCF database significantly faster and uses 60% less disk space than legacy formats.

Download Size

The installer is approximately 25 MB. Tournament files are stored as compact .sjson files that require minimal disk space.

Internet Connectivity

An internet connection is required for:

  • Activation — when activating SwissSys for the first time
  • Online player lookups — searching USCF or FIDE databases during registration
  • Auto-updates — SwissSys checks for updates on startup automatically
  • ChessRoster sync — publishing pairings and standings online

Internet access is not required for offline tournament play once SwissSys is activated.
