Page Setup - File Menu

Opens the SwissSys Page Setup dialog, where you set the printed page size and margins used by SwissSys’s graphics-based reports. This is SwissSys’s own dialog — not the standard Windows page setup dialog — and all values are entered in inches.

Page Setup controls the page geometry (size and margins) that SwissSys uses when it draws reports. To choose the printer itself and its paper orientation, use Print setup instead.

Dialog fields

All measurements are in inches.

FieldDescriptionDefault
Left marginDistance from the left edge of the page to the start of printed content.0.5
Top marginDistance from the top edge of the page to the first printed line.1.0
Bottom marginDistance reserved at the bottom of the page.1.0
Page lengthTotal height of the page.11.0
Page widthTotal width of the page.8.5

The defaults describe a standard 8.5 x 11 inch (US Letter) page in portrait. There is no separate right-margin field — the usable width is the page width minus the left margin.

Buttons

ButtonAction
OKValidates and saves the values, then closes the dialog.
CancelCloses the dialog without changing the current settings.
DefaultsResets all five fields to the standard 8.5 x 11 values shown above. You still need to click OK to keep them.

Validation

When you click OK, SwissSys checks the values and shows an error message (and keeps the dialog open) if any of these are violated:

  • Page length and page width must both be greater than zero.
  • The left margin cannot be larger than the page width.
  • The top margin plus the bottom margin cannot be larger than the page length.
  • All five fields must contain valid numbers.

If a value is invalid, fix it and click OK again.

These page-size and margin settings apply to SwissSys’s graphics-based (“best printing”) reports — the main printed reports such as pairings, wall charts, and standings. Use the Defaults button if a report’s layout looks wrong after experimenting with custom margins.
