Half-point Byes
SwissSys provides several ways to reserve half-point byes for players:
At Registration Time
At registration time you may click the bye buttons that run along the bottom of the screen, telling SwissSys which rounds the player gets the reserved bye.
After Registration
After registration you may click on Players | Tinker to pull up a dialog similar to the registration screen where you can again reserve byes by clicking on the bye buttons.
During Pairing Setup
When making pairings, the Pairings - Setup dialog permits you to assign byes by selecting a player from the list at right and clicking on the desired bye button.
Registering a Player Late
When you register a player after one or more rounds have already been paired, SwissSys shows the Past-round bye points prompt so you can decide what the player scores for the rounds they missed.
That prompt covers only the rounds already paired. Advance byes you reserved for future rounds on the registration screen are kept exactly as you set them — accepting the prompt does not clear them. The prompt’s controls start out showing any past-round values already on file, and entering a quick total replaces the individual choices shown.
The two surfaces divide the tournament between them: the registration screen owns byes for rounds still to come, and the Past-round bye points prompt owns rounds that have already been paired. Moving the player to another section carries over only those reservations that are still in the future in both sections.
