Switch Ratings/IDs - Players Menu

Swaps rating and/or ID fields across all players. Use this when you entered ratings in the wrong order (e.g., FIDE in Rating 1 but the tournament requires USCF in Rating 1), or when a report requires the primary rating field to hold a specific value.

What Can Be Switched

The Data to switch group offers three choices:

OptionEffect
RatingsSwaps Rating 1 and Rating 2 for all players.
ID numbersSwaps ID 1 (USCF ID) and ID 2 (alternate ID) for all players.
BothSwaps both rating fields and both ID fields.

Rating Swap Options

When swapping ratings, the If the desired rating is blank… group controls behavior for players with one empty rating field:

OptionBehavior
Switch it anywaySwaps regardless of whether one field is blank.
Skip itSkips players where either rating is zero.
Copy current rating to itCopies the non-zero rating into the empty slot rather than swapping.

The “Best rating” options group adds a further override:

OptionBehavior
Normal swappingUses the blank-rating rule above; no best-rating override.
Always use the higher rating for this tournamentEnsures the higher of the two ratings ends up in the primary slot.
Use the higher one only if the lower is provisionalPromotes the higher rating only when the lower one is provisional.

Reordering After Switch

Swapping ratings changes relative player order. The Guidelines for reordering players group asks how to handle resorting:

  • USCF rules — Re-sort players using USCF pairing number rules.
  • FIDE rules — Re-sort players using FIDE ranking rules.
  • Leave order as is — Keep current pair number order.

Under FIDE rules, changing pairing numbers after round 4 is not permitted. SwissSys will warn you and require explicit confirmation if you attempt this in a FIDE event after round 4. This warning is suppressed for ID numbers switches, since swapping ID fields alone never changes pair numbers.
