Use Master Team Name List - Team Menu
This toggle controls which set of expanded team names SwissSys uses when loading a section file.
Leave this option checked in most cases. Only uncheck it when working with files from another tournament director who uses different team codes.
How It Works
SwissSys stores expanded team names in two places:
- Your master team name list (shared across all your tournaments)
- The individual section file (saved with each tournament)
Normally these match. This option only matters when they differ.
Behavior When Checked (Default)
- SwissSys uses your master list when loading any file.
- Any new team codes encountered are automatically added to your master list.
Behavior When Unchecked
- SwissSys uses the expansions embedded in the loaded file.
- Your master list is not updated.
- Expanded names cannot be edited from the master list dialog because that dialog only works with the master list.
When To Uncheck
Uncheck this option when:
- You are loading a file from another TD who uses a different coding system.
- You want to view their original expansions without modifying your master list.
- You want to keep your list uncluttered with codes you will never use again.
After finishing with the external file, re-check this option to resume normal operation.
