Teams-only Fixed Roster Events
Teams-only fixed roster is a streamlined format for when you want to run a team event but do not need to track individual player results. Teams are registered and paired as single units, like players in an individual tournament.
When To Use This Format
Choose teams-only fixed roster when:
- You are running a fixed-roster-style event but only care about team results
- You do not need individual board standings or ratings
- You want simpler administration without tracking each player separately
If you need individual player standings alongside team results, use the standard Fixed-Roster format instead.
How It Differs From Regular Fixed Roster
| Aspect | Fixed Roster (Type 2) | Teams-Only FR (Type 5) |
|---|---|---|
| Player tracking | Full individual results | Not required |
| Standings | Individual + team | Team only |
| Administration | More steps | Simplified |
| Maximum team size | 12 boards | 12 boards |
Running a Teams-Only Event
Register teams like individual players
Enter each team as if it were a single player. Include the team name and average rating.
Pair as normal
Pair rounds just as you would in an individual tournament. SwissSys pairs teams against each other.
Enter results
When you enter a result, SwissSys prompts for the margin of victory — the number of board points the winning team scored. This is equivalent to the game points value in regular fixed-roster events.
