Registration Options
These options fine-tune how the registration dialog behaves. Access them from the Options menu inside the registration dialog.
Use Enter Key For
Controls how the registration dialog responds when you press Enter.

| Search and load | Enter searches the database and loads the matching player, leaving fields editable |
| Scan mode | Enter loads the player and registers them immediately—no further action needed |
Scan mode is ideal with a barcode scanner. Scanning a membership card automatically fills the ID field and presses Enter, registering the player in one step. If SwissSys finds multiple matches, it warns you before registering.
Forced Name Format
Controls how player names are capitalized when loaded from the database.

Warn if Expired
When checked, SwissSys warns you if a registered player’s membership has expired. Useful for enforcing membership requirements at the door.
Provisional Ratings
Controls how provisionally rated players are handled during registration. Configured under Rating options > [+] More options, in the Rating import settings.

| Accept without warning | Player flagged with “p” but no dialog interrupts registration — the default |
| Warn me | A warning dialog appears each time a provisional player is loaded |

Search Options
The Rating options button in the registration toolbar — and Database → Search options… — open the Search options screen, which gathers everything that decides where a rating comes from into one place:
- Where to look up ratings — USCF, CFC, FIDE, or “do not look up ratings”. Online lookup for all three organizations is always available; it does not depend on having a matching database file loaded.
- Your local databases — both database slots are listed by name, each showing whether it will be used for this search. If a loaded database cannot supply the organization you picked, the screen says so instead of quietly ignoring it.
- Change… / Load… buttons next to each slot, so you can point a slot at a different file without leaving the screen.
The use for this search boxes beside each database are a live read-out, not switches. They follow from the rating source you pick and from which databases are loaded. To turn a local database on or off, load or unload it in Database Setup.
The older Confirm/edit rating search options dialog is unchanged and still available from the Ratings tab of Environment Options.
Use it to set:
- The rating profile — preset chips (USCF, USCF + FIDE, CFC, CFC + FIDE, FIDE) or, for a configured non-binary database, the legacy Federation choice
- Rating type — Regular/Quick/Blitz, or Standard/Rapid/Blitz for FIDE
- Rating source — local database and/or online, plus the supplement date
- Titles, IDs, and missing-rating handling — under the [+] More options expander
Closing the dialog refreshes the registration labels so they always match what will be populated.
