Get Profile / Save Profile - Options Menu

Profiles let you save the full set of optional SwissSys settings and reload them later. Use profiles to switch quickly between configurations for different tournament types.

Commands

Save Profile saves your current settings to a profile file (.ini).

Get Profile loads a previously saved profile file and applies all stored settings.

What a Profile Contains

A profile captures all optional settings from the Environment Options dialog and related preferences, including:

  • Display options (section panels, name format, key codes, screen style)
  • Registration and editing preferences
  • File operation settings (autosave, backup, confirm overwrites)
  • Database file paths
  • Rating formula and K-value
  • Post-event rating settings

Core tournament data (players, pairings, results) is stored in the tournament file, not the profile.

Default Behavior

SwissSys automatically saves settings to and loads settings from the default profile file (Swiss11.ini) in the SwissSys application data folder (%APPDATA%\SwissSys\SwissSys 11\). This happens transparently when you close and reopen the application, provided Save profile on quit is enabled in Options → Environment… → Files & Databases.

Use Cases

  • Multiple tournament formats – Save one profile for scholastic events (scholastic ratings, grade labels) and another for open tournaments (USCF ratings, regular settings).
  • Multiple operators – Each tournament director can maintain their own profile file.
  • Moving to a new computer – Export a profile on the old machine and import it on the new one to restore your preferred settings.
