Online Tournament Assistant

Use the Online Tournament Assistant to match Chess.com usernames to USCF IDs so you can submit a Chess.com tournament for USCF rating.

Menu Path: Internet → Online tournament assistant

Prerequisites

  • A Chess.com tournament report file already opened in SwissSys (via File → Open).
  • Players registered in the tournament (so there are names to match against).

Player names in Chess.com tournament files may appear as usernames rather than real names. USCF requires valid ID numbers, not names, so username-format names are acceptable for rating submission.

Steps

Open the tournament report

Use File → Open to load a Chess.com tournament file. Players must be registered in SwissSys before you can look up IDs.

Download the USCF ID lookup table

Click Download Lookup Table to download the USCF ID lookup CSV from Chess.com. You will be prompted to choose a save location.

This download is a one-time step — once saved, you can reuse the same file for multiple tournaments until you want to refresh it.

Point SwissSys to the lookup file

If you already have the CSV file, click Browse to locate it without downloading again.

Look up USCF IDs

Click Look up USCF ID numbers for this section. SwissSys matches Chess.com usernames in the current section to entries in the lookup table and populates USCF IDs automatically.

A log in the dialog shows which players were matched and any that could not be found.

Generate the ratings report

Once IDs are populated, go to Utilities → Ratings reports to generate the USCF rating submission file.

  • Ratings Reports — Generate USCF rating submission files after ID lookup.
