SwissSys Tutorial
If you are new to SwissSys (or to directing chess tournaments) this tutorial will get you acquainted with the basics. It steps you through some small but typical Swiss system tournaments, explaining things along the way. By following along with the program running you will quickly become comfortable using SwissSys.

You can print out this tutorial by loading the file SwissSys Tutorial.pdf into any public document format reader, such as Adobe Acrobat and printing it from there.
This .pdf file (37 pages long) is located in your SwissSys folder (typically C:\Program files\SwissSys 11).
The printable version is provided for those quaint, loveable people who still like to hold on to what they are reading.
Tutorial conventions
- Bold text indicates actions you should take to follow along
- Explanatory comments that may not apply to everyone appear in a lighter style
- Menu selections are listed in order separated by the
|separator. For instance, “Players | Register” means select Register from the Players menu
