Hosted Website

SwissSys provides two methods for sharing your tournament results on the ChessRoster (SwissSys) hosted website:

New in v11.76: For the most streamlined experience, use the new ChessRoster integration features to automatically sync your tournament data to the web. This provides real-time updates and eliminates manual file uploads.

If you enable the ChessRoster platform integration in SwissSys, your tournament standings, pairings, and updates will be published automatically to the online platform. You won’t need to manually create or upload files at all.

For setup and instructions, see ChessRoster Platform Integration for an overview and ChessRoster Integration Dialog for the step-by-step guide. Once configured, SwissSys will handle uploads in the background (or whenever you click “Sync Now”), and players can view the event on ChessRoster’s website instantly.

Method 2: Manual Upload Process

If you prefer not to use the automatic sync, or are running a version without it, you can still manually share tournament reports using the traditional upload process:

Step 1: Create Report for Upload

In SwissSys, go to Internet → Create report for uploading. This command generates a set of tournament report files (standings, pairings, etc.) and packages them, ready for upload.

Step 2: Access the Website

Open your web browser and go to the ChessRoster SwissSys results site . Log in with your ChessRoster account.

(Tip: SwissSys has a shortcut – select Internet → My Events Page from the menu. This will open the ChessRoster “My Events” webpage in your browser, after you log in.)

Step 3: Create an Account (First Time Only)

If you don’t already have a ChessRoster account, you’ll need to sign up on the website (one time only). Signing up is free and only requires an e-mail address.

(This account is the same one used for ChessRoster’s platform. Your information is kept private and is not shared.)

Once you have an account and are logged in, proceed to upload your tournament.

Step 4: Upload Your Report

On the ChessRoster site, navigate to My Events (this is your personal dashboard for uploaded tournaments). Then:

  1. Click Upload a new report (or similar button).
  2. In the file chooser, select the tournament report file you created in Step 1. It’s usually a .zip file or a folder containing the SwissSys reports.
  3. Confirm the upload by clicking Submit or Upload.

The website will process the file. If it’s accepted, your tournament’s results will be published online.

Now anyone can view it from the public Events page on the ChessRoster/SwissSys site. Players can search for your event by name, date, or location and see the standings, pairings, etc.

Managing Your Uploads

  • My Events (Dashboard): When logged in, the My Events page on the website shows tournaments you have uploaded. You can use this to manage or remove your uploads.
  • Public Events Page: All uploaded tournaments that are marked public are listed on the main Events page for anyone to browse (they typically appear in chronological order or can be searched).

If you upload multiple updates for the same tournament (for example, after each round), the system will typically update the existing entry rather than creating duplicates, as long as you consistently use the same tournament file info.

Supported Report Types

The hosted website can display a variety of tournament report views. When you upload via SwissSys (either automatically or manually), it includes the following report types:

  • Wall Chart – A round-by-round listing of all players (who they played and what their scores are).
  • Standings – Final or current standings with scores and tie-breaks.
  • Standings Summary – A condensed results summary (often used for final crosstable).
  • Current Pairings – The pairings for the latest round (by board number).
  • Alphabetical Pairings – The current round pairings sorted alphabetically by player name.
  • Team Standings – If a team tournament, team scores and rankings.
  • Registration List – The list of players registered in each section.
  • Master Registration List – A combined list of all players in the tournament (all sections).

These are the typical reports SwissSys generates for upload. The platform may add support for additional report types in the future as needed.

Using the hosted website (whether via automatic sync or manual upload) is a great way to share results with players and the public in real time. Automatic sync is ideal for live updates, while manual uploads can be done at key points (e.g., end of day or end of tournament) if preferred. Either way, the ChessRoster online platform ensures your players can follow along with the tournament results conveniently.
