Registration Dialog Options
The options submenu of the registration dialog offers a few useful options:
Use Enter key for
Use this to control how the registration dialog responds when you hit the enter key.
Your choices are:
- Tab key behavior - Treat Enter the same as the tab key
- Search and load - Do an instant search and load of the database to find a match of the player name or ID which you have typed (allows further editing of the player data)
- Scan mode - Enter key both loads the player information from the database and registers the player automatically
If SwissSys finds duplicate matches it issues a warning when in scan mode.
Forced Name Format
Choose from several name formatting options:
- None - Leave names exactly as found
- Initial uppercase - Capitalize first letter of each name
- All uppercase - USCF standard format
- Last name uppercase - Only last name in capitals
In the all uppercase (USCF) format there is no space between the comma and the first name so that the format matches the standard USCF format.
The mixed-case formats do leave a space for easier legibility.
Provisional Ratings
Starting with SwissSys 11.77, provisional rating handling is configured in the Rating Search dialog. You can choose:
- Ignore all - Treat provisional ratings as established ratings
- Warn me - Alert you every time a provisional rating is encountered
- Accept without warning - Flag provisionally rated players but don’t warn

Warn if Expired
If checked, you will receive a warning if a membership has expired.
More Options
Opens the Rating Search dialog where you can configure rating source preferences, database settings, and provisional rating handling.
Key Settings Available:
- Federation selection (USCF, FIDE, N/A)
- Rating source priority (online vs. database)
- Provisional rating handling options
- Database status label visibility
