Results Editor

The Results Editor is a dialog that appears when you double-click on a player’s result in the main view. This editor lists all the player’s games, opponents, colors, and results in a one-round-per-row format.

Choose the result (-, =, or +) and the color (W, B, or -) from the options provided, and key in the opponent number desired.

Keep in mind that the number you use for the opponent depends on the sorting and the numbers listed in the main view.

For instance, if the wall chart is sorted alphabetically when you call up this editor, and Aaronson is the first player listed, you would enter “1” as the opponent for any player who met Aaronson.

To avoid confusion, it is a good idea to switch to a pair number sort before doing extensive editing.

Automatic result updates

By default all opponent results will also be updated here. To suppress this function, uncheck the box provided above the player data. If in the editing process you end up with inconsistent results, SwissSys will warn you.

Use the Edit | Validate function to locate and resolve inconsistencies before continuing to pair.

Failure to do so may result in an inability to pair the next round.

Key code conventions for the Results Editor

When editing results and scores, the following key conventions should be observed:

  • -, =, + : Loss, draw, win
  • W=White B=Black
  • X=Forfeit win Z=Forfeit draw (USCF mode only)
  • F=Forfeit loss
  • Bye=Program allocated bye (usually one full point)
  • H=Half point bye U=Zero-point bye
  • Use a hyphen (-) to indicate no opponent or no color.

Full point byes

Note that if you are using non-standard values for the pairing-allocated bye (half a point, or zero points) and want to give a player a full point bye, you need to do that from the pairings setup dialog when pairing the round, or from the pair chart after that.

The results editor does not support this function.
