Columns - Adjusting
SwissSys uses “Set and forget” columns. This means that once you get your columns the way you want them, as described below, they will stay that way — even after you leave the program — until you change them again.
Adjusting Column Width
Many of the SwissSys dialogs, such as those for standings, pair charts, and so on, are arranged in columns. You can adjust the width of these columns by placing the mouse cursor at the top of a column boundary, then clicking and dragging the boundary left or right. You might do this, for instance, to improve the appearance of the final printout, or to save screen space.
Column Types
Some of the charts have column types. Changing the width of one column automatically changes the width of all the columns on the screen with similar data in them.
An example of this is the round and tiebreak columns of the standings, which SwissSys keeps at the same width.
Font Changes
When you change fonts in any of these dialogs the column width and height is automatically adjusted proportionately. You can quickly restore the default column widths and font settings by clicking the “Set fonts” button from most of the dialogs. Choose “Defaults” from the font modification dialog that appears. Some columns can be removed completely just by unchecking the appropriate field in the Formatting Options dialog.
Another shortcut for this in some situations is to do a right click on a selected column. If “Collapse column” is listed as a right click menu option, then you can remove the column by selecting that option. Click here if you are copying to the clipboard and having trouble with jagged columns.
