Exports Formatting

This dialog controls how SwissSys formats exported data for various output types.

HTML Format Settings

The top section provides HTML format customization options. Experiment with these settings to achieve a customized look for your HTML output.

CSS Options

For users comfortable with HTML and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), you can use custom CSS scripts with the CSS options in this dialog. SwissSys includes HTML tags with exports that you can style with your own CSS.

Custom CSS Class for Tables

Experienced CSS users can replace the default HTML table statement with their own CSS class:

  1. Check the “Use CSS class statement for table” box
  2. Enter your table class name in the box below

Text Export Options

Use Tabs in Exports

When performing “copy all” or “copy selection” operations (to clipboard or text file), SwissSys can align chart columns using either tabs or spaces.

Tabs (recommended):

  • Allows use of proportional fonts
  • Compatible with most word processors that use tabs as table cell separators
  • Provides better formatting flexibility

Spaces:

  • Turn off the tabs setting to use space padding
  • Fields are padded to uniform length
  • Best for fixed-pitch fonts like Courier
  • Useful for website publishing when not using SwissSys HTML table formatting

Include Headers in Clipboard Copies

Choose whether copy operations include a caption and column headers row.

Delimiting Character for Dumps

Specify the character used for delimited text files when exporting data for use with other database software.

Available for:

  • Current section state (Utilities | Dump to delimited textfile)
  • Label files (Utilities menu)
  • Membership forms (Reports menu)

Recommended delimiters:

  • Tab character (most compatible)
  • Comma (CSV format)
