Manage Board Numbers - Setup Menu

From this dialog you can automatically set up board numbers used across all your sections or any section of your choice.

First, decide how you want the board numbers to be packed between sections. You have three choices:

  1. Loose packing - SwissSys assumes all players are involved and allows room for byes who might end up paired on the last board.
  2. Tight packing - SwissSys allocates room only for those players actually paired or expected to be paired.
  3. Pack by prompt - SwissSys will prompt you to tell it what the starting board for sections should be.

Since the loose packing option gives you a little more wiggle room to handle last-minute changes, that is the recommended setting in most cases.

Next, get your sections in the order in which you want them to be numbered, from lowest boards to highest boards. Select a section from the list and use the promote/demote buttons to get them in the order you want.

If you declared your sections in the order of board priority when you initially set up your tournament, which is what most people do anyway, you can skip this step.

Finally, click on the operation you want to perform, either setting boards for all sections automatically, or setting them just for a single section that you have selected from the list.

To have SwissSys revise the board numbers for the currently-paired round, make sure the checkbox at the bottom of this dialog is checked. Otherwise you can leave the current round’s board numbers alone by unchecking this option.
