Fide Norms - Reports Menu

This feature has been reworked and improved. It shows a list of the players and any FIDE title norms they have earned in the tournament for your reference.

Norms are awarded based on winning percentage and the average rating of players involved (the player and all opponents). The higher the rating, the lower the winning percentage required to achieve a norm.

FIDE has strict requirements for earning these titles, such as permitting only a certain percentage of unrated players, and requiring a minimum percentage of titled players participating.

SwissSys takes care of these and other details with only a little bit of help from you. Note that for SwissSys to be able to assign norms properly, you must include player title and federation information when you register your players for the tournament.

Without a valid mix of federations and titled players (either overall or among a player’s opponents), no norms will be awarded.

For women’s norms to be calculated properly you must also identify your players as male or female when you register them.

Other options you can check are:

  • Display or don’t display any women’s title norms.
  • Display only titles for those players who are earning higher titles than the ones you now list for them, or display all titles.
  • Use the second ID and rating values as entered at registration.

This is for those cases in which you are using the second rating and ID fields to hold FIDE information on players.

Remember you can also toggle these values at any time using the Players | Switch ratings and IDs menu command.

Force rule 1.46 — FIDE rule 1.46 spells out the circumstances in which players in a high-power tournament can be exempted from the strict requirements of achieving a representative mix of federations among their opponents.

In most cases where the rule applies, SwissSys will apply it automatically, but you can force SwissSys to allow this exception in all cases if you need to.

You can also print out a standard FIDE norm certificate by clicking on the button marked accordingly. Most of the information that appears on the screen will be calculated for you automatically.

Fill in any empty boxes that apply before you print out the certificate.

Use the “Save as text” button to save the certificate as a text file for later editing if you prefer.
