Menus and the Screen
Main SwissSys Window
The main SwissSys window consists of several parts:
-
The main menu - giving you access to all SwissSys features
-
The toolbar - showing shortcuts to the most-used features
-
The section box - showing all the sections for this tournament that SwissSys knows about (you don’t need this at all if your tournament consists of only one section)
-
The main view - which you can switch between wall chart and standings
-
The player roster - which can be turned on and off, compactly showing all registered players
-
The status panel along the bottom of the screen - listing the current section, the round number and progress of the round, the number of players, the purchaser and the time of day
-
Section panels - once you have declared one or more sections, you will also see one section panel on the screen for each section (clicking on a section panel loads that section)
-
The multi-view charts - these are listings of either current standings, pairings, or both, that are arranged on the right side of the main view (you can turn them on or off with the buttons on the right end of the toolbar)
Important Dialogs
In addition to the main window, many other dialogs will appear as you run a tournament. Probably the most important are these:
-
Register dialog - enter players here
-
Tournament Setup dialog - tell SwissSys details about each section in the event
-
Pairings Setup dialog - do whatever manual byes and pairings you want, then make the next round pairings
-
View Pairings/Enter Results dialog - the main data entry dialog once the tournament is under way
-
Tinker dialog - revise player registration data
-
Database setup dialog - tell SwissSys what your database looks like (if you have one) and where it is
-
Prizes dialog - tell SwissSys what your prizes are and SwissSys tells you who gets what prize
-
Tournament at a Glance dialog - gives you an overview of the current state of each of your sections
-
Board manager - use this to set up board numbers across all your sections automatically
-
Create report for uploading - use this to create an event report that you can then upload to the free hosted site so that others can view your tournament tables online
