Read From Club and Write/Update Club

These commands read (or write, or write and update) an entire club list at once.

Reading Club Lists

If reading, the tournament is then ready for first round pairing or for further registration.

Handling Existing Players

If you have any players currently registered when you read from a club list in this way, you will be asked whether you want to start a new section or append the club players to the current players.

If you select “New”, then this operation opens a new section for this tournament before adding the club players to it.

Duplicate Prevention

If you have players in the club list who are already registered, they will not be added as duplicates unless you say so. You will also have the option of updating player scores based on reserved byes in the club list for rounds that have already been played.

Writing Club Lists

If writing, the list of players will be available for future use, either as a pre-registration file or as a club list which you can use to register players with.

Updating Existing Clubs

When writing to a club that already exists, you have the option of overwriting the information it contains or updating it. If you choose “update” you will then have some other save options, such as choosing what rating information to use.

If a player is found in the list, that player’s rating information is updated. Any players not found are then appended to the list.

Alternative Methods

You can also read and write club lists using the usual “Open” and “Save” commands. Just select the correct “Files of type” filter, or specify the appropriate file extension (“.txt” for club lists).
