Database Cleanup - Database Menu
Use this command to erase unwanted records from a database in dBase format. For other formats, use the software that the database was created with to do this kind of housekeeping.
If you created this file from some other database program, it will in most cases be easier for you to do this from that software instead of from SwissSys, but this feature is included as an alternative.
Erasing Records
To erase a player’s record, type in the player name or ID in the boxes provided, and click on “Erase.” To ensure that the record you erase is not one of several matching records, use ID numbers (unique identifiers) whenever possible.
If there is more than one record that matches your player information, SwissSys will ask if you want to erase the first match, or cancel the erasure.
About Database Deletion
Note that this erasure is not a physical deletion from the hard drive. It only marks a player’s record as having been erased from the database so you will not see it any more. Once you have performed many deletions you will want to perform a packing operation on the database to eliminate wasted space.
Database Packing
Do this by clicking on the “Pack” button. This operation will physically remove deleted records and reclaim disk space.
