Director Guide
As a tournament director (TD), your job spans two platforms.
- SwissSys handles the core tournament engine: generating pairings, recording results, and producing final reports.
- ChessRoster handles the web-facing side: player registrations, publishing pairings, showing live results, and distributing final standings.
This section covers the ChessRoster half of that workflow.
What You Can Do on ChessRoster
| Task | Where to find it |
|---|---|
| Download registered players for import into SwissSys | Tournament page → admin bar overflow menu (⋮) → Export to SwissSys |
| Publish pairings, results, and standings | Live sync from SwissSys (v11.76+), or upload a web report |
| Notify players each round | Approve releases on Manage → Notifications |
| Display live results during the event | Tournament → Live View tab (or add /live to the tournament’s web address) |

Live ResultsYour Access Level
You must be assigned as a tournament director to manage a tournament. Organizer admins can assign you in the organizer’s staff settings.
Depending on your organizer’s settings, you may have access to all of their tournaments or only those you are specifically assigned to. Contact your organizer admin if you cannot see a tournament you expect to manage.
