Creating an Account
Create your ChessRoster account in under two minutes. No password required — ChessRoster uses secure, passwordless sign-in.
First time here? You do not need a chess rating, a USCF membership, or any prior tournament experience to create an account. Anyone can sign up.
Sign-In Options
ChessRoster supports several ways to sign in. All of them create or access the same account.
| Method | How it works |
|---|---|
| One click — uses your existing Google account | |
| Microsoft | One click — uses your Microsoft or Outlook account |
| Apple | One click — uses your Apple ID |
| Email (magic link) | Enter your email; ChessRoster sends you a sign-in link |
| Passkey | If you have a passkey registered, use the Passkey button on the login page to sign in with Face ID, Touch ID, or a security key (set up after your first sign-in — see Your Player Profile) |
There is no password to create or remember. Each sign-in method is equally secure.
How to Create Your Account
Go to the ChessRoster login page
Visit chessroster.com and click Sign in (or go directly to chessroster.com/login ).
Choose your sign-in method
The Login page shows your available sign-in options. Select Google, Microsoft, or Apple to sign in with an existing account — or enter your email address and click Continue with Email. If you have previously set up a passkey, click the Passkey button to sign in with your device.
Follow the prompts
- OAuth (Google / Microsoft / Apple): You will be redirected to that provider to authorize ChessRoster, then returned to the site.
- Email magic link: Check your inbox for an email from ChessRoster. Click the link inside — it signs you in automatically. The link expires after a short time, so use it promptly.
You are in
Once signed in, you land on the home page. Your account is ready to use.
About Magic Links
A magic link is a one-time sign-in link sent to your email. It replaces the traditional password.
- No password to forget or reset
- Each link can only be used once
- If the link expires, simply request a new one from the login page
Check your spam or junk folder if the magic link email does not arrive within a minute or two. Add chessroster.com to your safe senders list to avoid this in future.
After Signing In
From the home page you can browse tournaments, register for events, and explore the platform. Visit your profile (accessible from the user menu in the top right) to view your account information, organizer memberships, and SwissSys software purchases. You do not need to fill out any additional forms to start browsing or registering for tournaments.
