Player's GuideRegistering for a Bundle

Registering for a Bundle

A tournament bundle lets you register for several of an organizer’s tournaments in one checkout, usually at a lower combined price than registering for each event separately. This guide walks through the bundle registration flow from start to finish.

First time? A bundle is just a package deal an organizer sets up — for example, all the events in a monthly series. You pick your section for each tournament, pay once, and you are registered for every event in the bundle.

Prerequisites

  • A ChessRoster account — you must be signed in to register for a bundle (create one here)
  • Your USCF ID (or CFC/FIDE ID) if any tournament in the bundle requires federation membership
  • A PayPal account or credit/debit card for the bundle fee

Finding a Bundle

Organizers create bundles; you do not assemble your own. When a tournament is part of a bundle, the bundle offer appears on that tournament’s registration page.

  • Open any tournament that belongs to a bundle (see Finding Tournaments).
  • Look for the bundle offer card on the registration page. It shows the bundle name, the included tournaments, and a price comparison.
  • Choose to register for the bundle instead of the single tournament.

The same bundle offer appears on every tournament that belongs to it, so you can start from whichever event you found first.

The Bundle Registration Flow

Bundle registration uses a four-step wizard. You can move between steps you have already reached using the step indicator.

Step 1 — Bundle Overview

A read-only summary of what you are signing up for:

  • The bundle name, description, and the organizer running it
  • Every included tournament, with its dates, location, and individual price
  • A pricing block comparing the individual total to the bundle price

This step is informational. Review it and continue when you are ready.

Step 2 — Player Information

Enter the details used for all tournament registrations in the bundle:

FieldNotes
First and last nameRequired
Email addressRequired; pre-filled when you are signed in
Phone numberOptional; US/Canadian format (for example, (212) 555-1234)
Federation IDUSCF, CFC, or FIDE — shown only when a tournament in the bundle needs it

Your information is entered once and applied to every tournament in the bundle, so you do not re-type it per event.

Federation IDs: USCF is the United States Chess Federation, CFC is the Chess Federation of Canada, and FIDE is the international chess federation. A federation field appears only when at least one tournament in the bundle is rated by, or requires membership in, that federation. A required field is marked with an asterisk.

USCF lookup: Enter your 8–9 digit USCF ID and click Look up to confirm your record. If a match is found, you can click Use USCF name to fill your name from the USCF database. If no match is found, you will see “No USCF player found with that ID.”

Step 3 — Section Selection

Choose which section you want to play in. How this works depends on how the organizer configured the bundle:

  • Per-tournament sections (default): Pick a section separately for each tournament in the bundle.
  • Same section required: Some bundles require the same-named section across every tournament. In that case you pick one section once, and it applies to all events.

You must select a section for every tournament before you can continue to payment.

Step 4 — Payment

The final step shows a complete fee breakdown and the Complete Bundle Registration button.

The breakdown lists each tournament’s individual price, then any discounts, then the total you will pay:

Line itemWhen it appears
Each tournament’s feeAlways — one line per included tournament
Individual totalWhen the bundle saves you money (shown with a strikethrough)
Bundle discountWhen the bundle price is lower than the individual total
Member/titled discountWhen you qualify for an organization-member or titled discount
TotalAlways — the combined amount you pay

A registration summary below the breakdown confirms the section you chose for each tournament.

Click Complete Bundle Registration to continue to PayPal. You can pay with a PayPal account or any major credit or debit card — a PayPal account is not required.

Combined Pricing and Savings

The bundle price is set by the organizer and replaces the individual entry fees. The overview and payment steps make the value clear:

  • The individual total is the sum of each tournament’s individual price.
  • The bundle price is what you actually pay.
  • When the bundle costs less than the individual total, you see a You save amount and a percentage off.

Some organizers offer extra discounts on top of the bundle price for members of their organization or for titled players. When one applies to you, it shows as a separate Member/titled discount line, and your final price drops accordingly.

You only ever pay the single bundle total. The per-tournament amounts shown are for comparison and your records — there is one combined charge.

Confirmation

After PayPal approves your payment, you are returned to a confirmation page showing:

  • A Bundle Registration Complete! banner
  • A registration summary with the bundle name and the total paid
  • A list of every tournament you are now registered for, with its dates and the section you chose

You also receive a separate confirmation email for each tournament in the bundle.

From the confirmation page you can:

  • Click View All My Registrations to open My Registrations
  • Click Back to Home to return to the homepage

Notes and Gotchas

  • You must be signed in. Bundle registration always requires an account; you will be sent to sign in first if you are not logged in.
  • Already registered. If you have already completed this bundle, you will see an “Already Registered” message instead of the form. Check My Registrations to review it.
  • Bundle unavailable. If the bundle is no longer active, is outside its availability window, or one of its tournaments has stopped accepting registrations, you will see a “Bundle Unavailable” message explaining why.
  • Payment problems. If a payment cannot be completed, you are returned to the bundle registration page with an error message so you can try again.
